JODD FAIRS Ratchada

Jodd Fairs is a night market (a very large one). It’s different from the one in Chinatown in that it’s set on its own grounds, like Christmas markets or folk festivals here (Chinatown is basically just a normal street where the shops just spread out a bit at night). There’s food and clothing here, although we were only there for the food. We walked briefly to Amok and then took the MRT to the Rama 9 stop. You can then either walk around the shopping center or through to the other side, opposite the Unilever building. Since it was a Saturday, the night market was very busy and it was difficult to get through or get a seat at the various stalls. We ate grilled jellyfish, a fresh mango smoothie, and freshwater shrimp (yummy). For dessert, we had creamy salted egg something or other :D. Everything was very good, and I’ll definitely go again, as there were so many more things to try.

Okay, since the beef bone soup didn’t work out the first time, I had to go back (okay, I’ll go there more often given the selection; there’s still so much there). So I walked around a bit but then quickly went to one of the shops with the soup, because you always have to wait a long time towards the end (which is why we didn’t do it the first time). The bones come in a very spicy broth reminiscent of tum-yum (spicy and sour). Very tasty, and there was more meat in them than I expected. Then there were mocci and more salted eggs, but this time with a matcha filling.
