Quince

The Quince was a Michelin-App recommendation, which, in retrospect, I can’t quite understand. But first things first. I didn’t have a reservation and got a seat right next to the entrance, which isn’t bad per se, but the “front area” had two air conditioning units, which became quite uncomfortable after a while (I had to sit with a cramped posture to avoid getting hit by a full-bore)! I ordered the BBQ octopus, the melon-crab salad, and the tiger-prawn termidor. The octopus came first, and I was quite impressed. It was perfectly grilled with a delicious Thai-style sauce, really yummy. Then things went downhill with the melon-crab salad. The crab content was negligible, and what little there was was completely overpowered by the goat cheese. There wasn’t even a real dressing, which might have saved the whole thing. Then the low point: the Tiger Prawn Termidor, a complete failure in both taste and quality (I’ve attached a picture from their Instagram for comparison). When you see that they’re asking for 1,000 baht, you’re better off going to the JoddFairs Night Market, Baan Mama, or the Ministry of Crab. Along with the Annaconda, it was one of the worst places I’ve had in BKK so far 😒
