STR – MUC – BKK with Lufthansa in BC

So, since the weather in Germany was so cold, I decided at short notice (3 days) to fly to Bangkok again. The whole thing from Stuttgart via Munich with Lufthansa in Business Class. Stuttgart no longer has an LH lounge (apart from the fact that as a HON you can use the paid lounge). So I had a Wulle (beer) to bridge the wait. I was the only one on the fast track, so it went pretty quickly, even with the explosives test. The plane was very small (2 + 2 configuration), so all the trolleys had to be left at the plane (luckily there was a short break in the rain). In Munich, we collected our luggage in front of the plane and took the bus to the terminal. On the way there, we passed one of the A380s that were back in service (sadly, none of them seem to be flying to Asia 😒). Then we went to the Schengen Lounge for SENs. But it was already too late for the obligatory white sausages. So we ate a little something, it wasn’t anything special. After 2 hours, I changed lounges and went to the SEN lounge in the non-Schengen area. The program was exactly the same (regarding food and drinks). There, I tried the soup and charged my phone (4 hours of wasting time takes its toll on the battery). Then, finally, I went to Gate H02 (although the BC passengers boarded at H01). Unlike Austrian, LH offers champagne as a welcome option (one passenger actually complained about this on the last Austrian flight). The amenity kits, on the other hand, are becoming increasingly more economical. There was a bag (shopping bag) with socks and a toothbrush 🤷‍♂️. The service and food were okay, and I actually got a pretty good night’s sleep. Arrival in Bangkok was quite relaxed, with a very short wait on the fast track and then off to the taxi to the hotel…

This time, I didn’t book the whole thing through Miles & More, but through Lufthansa’s Partner Plus Benefit Program. This is aimed at companies and the self-employed. Here, you collect additional points for the same flights for which you earn Miles & More points. 🤭 I also treated myself to the Rimowa through this program. The flight cost 172,000 points plus €300 in taxes and fees. These fees could have been offset against 112,000 points. 🙄 But considering that I could have booked the one-way flight with Lufthansa for over €2,800, it’s better to save the points for the next flight. 😇
