BKK – FRA Thai Airways in Eco

I actually didn’t want to write another post for the return flight, as this one is almost identical to the last one. But since the departure was from the new terminal, here’s a short report anyway. The new terminal SAT1 had its ‘soft opening’ at the end of October. While I was waiting in line, I had to do a quick Google search. Finding 1: There are no lounges there yet, so I went to my favorite lounge, Silver-Kris. As always, the food was great (good bak kut teh and curry). But it was quite short, so I walked to the new train; yes, you can only get to the new terminal by train. The journey takes about 3 minutes. There are already shops in the new terminal, but they’re more of an ordeal for the employees, as there are hardly any guests. There are also 2 restaurants (one of which is a MC), but they’re dead here too. You can also hear hammering from somewhere. A lounge seems to already be open, a Miracle Lounge (but there was still banging coming from up there too). According to Google, the terminal is scheduled to be fully operational in 2027! Currently, only four airlines are using it. I wonder if they’ll always be happy with that?

The food on the plane wasn’t bad for economy fare, especially the fish on the second serving surprised me. What never surprises me is the poor quality at Lufthansa’s Senator Lounge in Frankfurt. The emails from Lufthansa to their ‘particularly good’ customers seem like a mockery!
