OGB on 13 is the subsidiary of OGB on 11, which I visited last year. I actually wanted to try the pork knuckle back then, but another dish came up. So, I decided to try it again this time. I didn’t spend much time looking at the menu and went straight for the pork knuckle (with cabbage and mashed potatoes). It had little in common with a German pork knuckle, as it’s deep-fried (as I discovered in Taiwan, too). It came with a spicy chili and garlic sauce. This sauce is usually served with fish here, but it goes really well with the knuckle, too. The cabbage was okay; it wasn’t exactly sauerkraut, but it wasn’t bad (unfortunately, it was a bit cold). The mashed potatoes and the gravy weren’t bad either, but I only tasted them briefly and actually left them alone because the knuckle was so much 🙈 I also had a dark Köster and a Fernet to aid digestion 🤭 During the meal it started to rain heavily, but unlike OGB on 11, this version has glass doors which can be closed in the event of an incident like this!
Oh yeah, if you ever see a Bunderberg on a map (without a picture) and think it’s just a typo for Underberg, don’t bother. You can’t really drink it, it’s more like a solvent.
