Laem Charoen Seafood

My visit to Laem Charoen was the result of poor planning on my part. I really wanted to eat freshwater shrimp before leaving, so I went to Baan Mama, but unfortunately, it’s closed on Mondays. So I googled it, and this restaurant came up. It’s located on the third floor of Central World, on the third floor of the middle entrance (so don’t go in right next to the Apple Store). Once again, I was assigned a rather unattractive seat (right by the kitchen hallway with no view). I ordered the spicy chili crab with bok choy vegetables and rice. I also had an XXL freshwater shrimp and a Thai iced tea. The spicy crab chili and bok choy weren’t bad, but unfortunately, the rice didn’t come with it. The freshwater shrimp arrived well-timed, but unfortunately, it wasn’t quite XXL and was grilled a bit too dry (it’s much bigger and better at Baan Mama or Todd Fairs!). The iced tea tasted more like coffee and was incredibly sweet and also very artificial. All in all, a bit of a flop on my last day in Bangkok 😏

Oh yes, the crowning glory came at the end. An invoice was created with a more complete bill, without listing the individual items (something I’ve never seen before in BKK). So I couldn’t check whether the rice was included in the bill. 🥲
