So, after almost a month, I’m heading back to Germany, this time with Austrian. For once, this trip is a day flight. I first had a quick visit to the Thai lounge, but as always, the selection isn’t that great, so I went straight to the Singapore Krisflyer lounge. The selection and quality are much better there 😉. Then it was time for boarding, where the ID check led to a long line (I sometimes miss my HON-PA here 🙈). I had reserved seat 1A (the flight was a miles-based flight). As a welcome, I was offered juice and water (not like on LH or Swiss 🍾). Shortly after takeoff, service began. I have to say that the food and service are significantly better than on LH and can easily keep up with Swiss. The food wasn’t bad. Then I watched a few movies and had a short nap. 90 minutes before landing in Vienna, there was another service with a really good Thai-style pomelo salad. After landing, there was still enough time for a small red wine in the SEN lounge, and then we continued on time with LH to Frankfurt. Here, I skipped the snack (chicken salad) and limited myself to a red wine and an apple. I actually wanted to try the IPA from Economy, but that wasn’t possible. One thing to note: Swiss also offers an IPA in Economy. There it was possible to get it in Business 🤷♂️ (LH and service). Then we landed on time in Frankfurt and went to the long-distance train station. This is where the fun ended; my ICE was already shown as an hour late. Unfortunately, the train isn’t very good at estimating time, so the time kept being added on by 5 minutes 😏. Eventually, the ICE finally arrived, but unfortunately, it was so late that I couldn’t get an S-Bahn. I skipped the line in front of the service center at 1:30 a.m. and went straight to the taxi stand. I’m curious to see if I’ll get my money back.
