The 78 is actually a hotel restaurant, which isn’t usually my cup of tea, as they usually only serve ‘toned-down’ (Franang-style) Thai food. But since it was also a recommendation from the Michelin app, I decided to give it a try. It was strange that I was actually the only customer. I ordered the spicy pomelo salad with shrimp, the batella curry with crap, and a lemongrass-ginger iced tea. The pomelo salad wasn’t quite spicy, but it was still very tasty with the tamarind sauce. The curry, on the other hand, was quite spicy and not Farang-style 🤭. The iced tea was also good, although almost a bit too sweet. The price is a bit on the high side, but if you like authentic Thai food and are a bit concerned about hygiene on the street, this is a good place to eat. I’d be interested in the curry with soft-shell crap; I’ll see if they have a second sample 😅
