Steak at D Empire Pavilion KL

I wanted meat again and there were two options: in the Pavilion or in Changkat. But since it was raining I opted for the short route. The Empire is on the 6th floor and pretty easy to find. I had the set menu even though they also had a 150 day dry aged dish on the menu (but at 130 euros I felt that was a bit too risky). The escargot to start with was very good. The salad afterward was nothing special. The soup was good again (although it did need a bit of salt and pepper). Then the steak. Generally I’m of the opinion that you shouldn’t offer a rib-eye that weighs less than 300 grams, but that’s fine since it’s part of a pretty extensive menu… The problem with such thin meat is that you can’t sear it properly if it’s medium-rare. But it worked and was OK. I also had a Shiraz with it, which was also pretty good.
