It’s time to move on. After taking the Airport Express upon arrival, I took a taxi to the airport. It’s actually much more expensive and slower than the train, but walking to the station at 4 a.m., or even taking a taxi there… The day before, I received an email from Lufthansa saying that due to the high volume of traffic, I should arrive earlier (a quick Google search yielded the same result). When I arrived, I was amazed at how busy it was by 4:30 a.m. It’s a good thing I was able to take the fast track; it saved me a lot of time. A little bit of it was lost scanning my electronics, though. They emptied all my small storage solutions and ran them through again (and unfortunately, there’s very little space to put everything back in). The airport itself is apparently undergoing major renovations (you walk along long, barricaded walkways). Most of the shops weren’t open yet, and there were huge lines in front of the ones that were (drinks and food). Lucky me that I can go to the SAS lounge.
The lounge isn’t exactly easy to find (they don’t believe in writing directions here; it’s better in Frankfurt, Munich, etc.), but I vaguely remembered my flight runs from earlier. You could tell the lounge had just opened, and everyone was queuing up around the food and coffee machine (okay, there are some specialists who have to pour themselves three espressos in a row). The Gold Lounge is very spacious, and the food and drinks are plentiful. It’s a pleasant place to wait for your flight (the wifi works well, and you can do a bit of journaling 😉 ).
